British Men’s Team Dominate Squash at Arafura Games 2009

Great Britain’s British Combined Services has proven to be a major force in the men’s individual Squash event having five players out of eight going into the quarter final on at 7.30pm Thursday.

The other three contenders are the Northern Territory’s Jamie Broadfoot, Chris White of the Australian Defence Organisation and James Hill from Singapore Police.

After a bye in the first game and a win in the second, Broadfoot progressed to round three, pitted against Henry Lee of Singapore Police. Broadfoot’s skill, expertise and control of the ball proved a winner as he took away the match 3/0.

Broadfoot will now face British Combined Services rival, Matt Ellicott, in the semi–finals in what is sure to be a nail biter of a game.

The quarter-final playoffs are sure to be thrilling as the best of the bunch fight for a position in the semi-finals. The public is invited to watch the games at the Darwin Squash Centre, located on the corner of McMillans and Sabine Road, Millner.
