The first woman to finish was Macau’s Long Hoi, who is profoundly deaf, in a time of 2 hours 13 minutes and 13 seconds.

Australian Defence Force (ADF) competitor Gavin Wickham and NT’s Jerome Bosmans finished second and third, respectively, in the men’s division.

Tasmania’s Sophie Hawkins claimed sliver in the women’s division closely followed by the ADF’s Jodie Backer.

A young Macau athlete, Lok Ka Long, led for most of the race after being first to exit the water but he had trouble finding his legs on the run to the finish. Lok Ka Long was the first to finish in the 16-19 age group.
