Top Seed Defeated in Men’s Singles Upset at Arafura Games 2009

In the first Badminton match of the day on Thursday Macau’s Kin Fai Leong, who has long been feted as the potential winner of the Men’s Singles gold, was defeated in a closely fought match with Ralph Mendez of the Philippines.

With a final tally of 18-21, 21-16, 21-13 Mr Mendez plays in the semi-final Thursday evening at 5pm at the Darwin Convention Centre.

His opponent is will decided from matches currently being played.
