Young Cyclists in Time Trials
Wed, May 13 2009
Three 14-year-old NT cyclists will take part in individual time trials tomorrow (Thursday) at the Hidden Valley Arafura Games course in Darwin.
The young riders – Alasdair Henderson, Luke Ellison and Mitchell Vanetie – will complete two laps of the course, starting at one minute intervals from 6.57 am and taking about 20 minutes to complete. They should reach a speed of upto 32 km an hour.
Originally, it was planned the riders would take part in Saturday’s Criterium course around Parliament House which will take about 40 minutes. However, international cycling rules forbid riders under the age of 15 taking part in events lasting more than 20 minutes.
Editors note: Alasdair Henderson is the son of the NT Chief Minister.
