Lifesavers from around the world gathered at Darwin's Waterfront Wave pool this morning for the second demonstration of their skills.

After winning gold in yesterday's obstacle relay the women's team of (Surf Lifesaving South Australia today went back into the water with an aim "to win".

Devon Halligan, from SLSA, said her team had come to Darwin to win "as many medals as possible" in their first Arafura Games.

"It's great to be here", she said.

"But it's a big difference to be swimming in a pool, as we're are used to training in the ocean.

"The swells are really close together - it's heaps of fun."

The 18-year-old, who will be competing in rescue tube and swim race events later today said her personal highlight of being at the 2011 Arafura Games was to see lifesaving "getting great exposure".

"And it's awesome to see so many competitors from overseas - that means our sport is getting bigger and better around the world."
