Thailand too strong for fired up Malaysia

Fri, May 13 2011

With the aim of restoring their country's pride, Terrengganu A (Malaysia) today took on Thailand in the 2011 Arafura Games sepak takraw double finals.

Earlier in the competition Thailand had stripped Terrengganu B of their chance to compete for the coveted gold medal after winning 3-0 in the semi finals.

Malaysia's coach, Aziq Binhussin, said prior to the match his team would be "fighting for gold".

"It will be hard work to win the gold medal and it will be very tough, but I hope we can do it.

"Malaysia and Thailand are both good teams - the outcome will depend on which team is mentally stronger."

Thailand's coach, Prachoen Rodbankoh, said he was confident his players would take gold.

"My team will win," he said.

"Both teams play the same style, but my team is stronger."

His prediction proved right as Thailand took out the match 3-0.
