Golf General Information

Competition Dates: 10 - 13 May

Competition Details:

The 2011 Arafura Games Golf competition will be conducted over four days and host Men’s and Women’s Individual Open Championships, as well as Men’s and Women’s Team Championships.

The A Grade competition will be based on international handicaps and is sanctioned by the R&A with golfers eligible for World Amateur Golf Rankings.

Eligibility/Entry Standards:

Individual nominations must include the players name and handicap. Team nominations must include the names of the three or four team players and their handicaps. Proof of handicap will be required upon registration prior to the first round of play. All team members are automatically entered in the individual event.

All competitors including juniors must hold a current official handicap of twelve (12) or less for males and eighteen (18) or less for females and must receive endorsement from his/her peak body.

In the event of nominations exceeding the number of places available, a handicap ballot will be conducted. Members of nominated teams will be exempted from the ballot.

To be eligible to play in nett events, players must produce proof of handicap prior to hitting off in the first round on the first day.

Endorsement:

All players must be endorsed by their relevant National Golf Association with proof of handicap provided. Registration will not be finalised and accepted until endorsement is received. Endorsement information is provided at time of registration and should be gained by the appropriate organisation prior to registering any athletes to ensure there are no delays in the process.

Training Information:

Practice will be available at the Darwin Golf Club on Monday 9 May. Times should be booked with the Darwin Golf Club Pro Shop. Driving range facilities and a practice putting green are also available. Please contact the Club on + 61 8 8927 1015 for more information.

Managers Meeting:

A pre-competition Managers Meeting will be held prior to the commencement of competition. All Team Managers are expected to attend this meeting.

Further information will be provided closer to the Games.

Medal Ceremony:

The Medal Ceremony will be conducted on the conclusion of the final day of play at the Darwin Golf Club Clubhouse. Further details will be provided closer to the event. It is expected that all medal winners will be in full team attire in order to receive their medals. The Organising Committee reserves the right to refuse an athlete to participation in a ceremony should they not be appropriately attired.
