Competition Details:

The 2011 Arafura Games International Lifesaving competition will be sanctioned by the International Lifesaving Federation, targeting developing Asia and Pacific nations and Australian Country teams.

The program will feature three competition components: Beach Events, Ocean Events and Pool Events.

IMPORTANT: The water temperature in Darwin in May is approx 26-28 degrees and the open water will be flat. It is recommended that stinger suits be worn for the open water events due to the possible presence of box jellyfish in the water. The local Surf Clubs use stinger suits for their competition and we can give more information on this if required.

  • National Police Team
  • National Universities Team
  • Australian State/Territory Teams
  • Australian Indigenous Team (members may be drawn from any State/Territory)

IMPORTANT: Individual competitors must hold a current Bronze Medallion issued by a Lifesaving organisation affiliated with the International Lifesaving Federation.

Endorsement:

All teams must be endorsed by an organisation affiliated to the International Lifesaving Federation. Registration will not be finalised and accepted until endorsement is received. Endorsement information is provided at time of registration and should be gained by the appropriate organisation prior to registering any athletes to ensure there are no delays in the process.
